heightstodepths?

HeightstoDepths is mainly the blog of Brian LaLonde. It contains reflections on faith, movies, and random tech solutions. It also contains posts by Brian Laba on his stay in Belfast.

LaLonde often goes by blalond. He currently lives in Lansing, MI as a campus minister with University Christian Outreach.

Laba, AKA blaba, lives in Ann Arbor, MI also as as a campus minister with University Christian Outreach.

What’s this “heights to depths” saying?

It’s an image inspired by various scriptures and reflections on the Christian life. Here’s a smattering:

For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 8:38-39 (RSV)

God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 1Co 2:10 (RSV)

“Grace is the fountain and the stream; faith is the aqueduct along which the flood of mercy flows down to refresh the thirsty sons of men.” From An Earnest Word with Those Who Are Seeking Salvation - in Chapter 7: “By Grace Through Faith by the Lord Jesus Christ” by C. H. Spurgeon.

“Virginity is like a pipe in which a heavy flow of water is contained… a single great drive… the soul is pushed upward to an exalted love.” From Carm. in Laudem Virg. 365-367 by Gregory of Nyssa.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God.
Eph 3:14-19 (RSV).

    Hi Brian,
I don’t know you, but i came across your site tonight while looking for guitar tablature for John Keating’s music. When I was in TEC as a student the songs there were so amazing when it came to entering in to worship but i can’t find them anywhere.
I find it cool but slightly surprising that Matthew Dick has gotten married, if you have anyway of contacting him say congratulations from me and say hello to Stephen too.
    anyway nice blog
    God Bless
    Ashley Craig
